We spent the first half of last week getting ready for Christmas and Grandma/Mom to come.
Thursday night we participated in the Christmas program that the village had. They asked us to read the Christmas story in addition to some singing.
Then on Friday morning we headed to Phoenix to pick up Grandma and get a few last minute items. Can you believe it snowed between Flagstaff and just north of Phoenix and then it rained and was cloudy in Phoenix. Her flight came in at 3pm. We stayed in Black Canyon City for the night at Larry and Cindy Miller's, (what a blessing they have been to us) so we wouldn't be driving in the dark and she wouldn't miss any scenery along the way. And of course the sun was out on Saturday again. (as usual)
Sunday was a full day here. We had Church and a fellowship meal.

In the evening we had a Christmas Eve service here. We set out luminaries along the driveway coming up the hill. It was really pretty with the Nativity and Christmas Carols playing outside the Toews house. After the service we walked through the village Christmas caroling. We came back to hot chocolate and snacks.Christmas day was such a blessing. We slept in and then just spent time together after opening gifts. We also talked to family far away. We were blessed by so many people in so many ways. We recieved cards and notes of encouragement along with some unexpected packages. I don't want to repeat myself, but I really feel like I can't say often enough......Thank you so much for all your prayers and support for us here. I know we could not continue day to day without that. There are days that have been really difficult and God has been faithful to sustain us in those times.
Tuesday was spent just recovering from Monday and cleaning up around here. I guess we did hike down the canyon to the spring in the late afternoon close to sunset.
This morning we went out hiking behind the village to see the caves. It was quite a hike. we went a little further than usual. The kids really enjoyed it even though some of us adults were pretty tuckered out.
Where we parked and started hiking.
The start down off the mesa.
Under an overhang on the side of the mesa.
Bryce at the mouth of one of the caves contemplating how to get down.
Jim trying to scare us. It was successful.Friday and Saturday we hope to do some more sight seeing. I'm not sure where yet.
