Today we went to Courtney’s birthday party. She just turned 12. Her parents Gerald and Susan, are the one family that is really walking with the Lord here. Afterwards Russ and Cyndi took us to meet Bertha whom they have known for several years. She is 80 years old and is nearly blind. I really enjoyed that visit. In
Indiana the children and I had been going in to the nursing home once or twice a month, so it was nice to visit with someone elderly again. She said “Oh, I just love kids” and she gave them all a hug. She mentioned that she needs some hoeing done, so I would like to see if we can go back sometime and work on that for her. She makes pottery and sells it and she insisted that each of the children pick out a piece to keep. She didn’t want us to buy it, so by the time we left we had 6 pieces. Russ said they almost hate to visit her because she is always giving things away and it is her livelihood. She mentioned some things she needs so hopefully we can get those for her and in that way help her out.
These are the pieces of pottery Bertha gave us.
Here is one of the many lizards we see running around here. This one happens to be slow enough to catch.
